Pele (born 1940).

Legendary Pele was called “the Black Pearl”. He was the greatest football player in the history of the game. With a way total of 1280 goals, Pele may have been the world’s most popular athlete after he was named Athlete of the Century by the world’s combined National Olympic Committees in 1999, though he never played in the Olympics himself. He became Brazil’s minister of sports in 1995, serving until 1998.

Cristiano Ronaldo (born 1976).

A great forward, Ronaldo became one of international soccer’s stars of the 1990s and Brazil’s biggest soccer hero since Pele. Nicknamed “The Phenomenon,” the talented forward has played for Cruzeiro, Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and AC Milan, amassing numerous records, championships, and cups. An international celebrity, he has been on the Brazilian national team since 1994 and was part of World Cup–winning teams in 1998 and in 2002, when Ronaldo was the tourney’s top scorer.

PC football: FIFA 10.

FIFA 10 or FIFA Soccer 10 in North America is one of the 17th series of football video games. Developed by EA Canada, it was released by Electronic Arts worldwide under the EA Sports label. It is available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2 and Wii. Handheld versions of the game were also released for the iOS, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, and mobile phones.

Arsenal.

Arsenal FC long history began in 1886, when the team was founded by workers at the Woolwich armaments factory in South London. The club was originally called Dial Square FC, but the name was changed to Royal Arsenal, and then to Woolwich Arsenal.

In 1893 the club became the first London team joined the Football League. Arsenal won promotion to the First Division in 1904 and stayed there for nine years until relegation 1913. In 1914, “Woolwich” was deleted from the club name.

Liverpool.

Liverpool FC started in 1892 by John Houlding, the leaseholder of Anfield Stadium. After Everton FC refused to pay high lease and moved to another stadium, Houlding decided to open his own football club. In 1896 the club joined the First Division League in 1900 after many successful seasons in Second Division. In the First Division Liverpool were immediately successful and won the English Football Championship in 1901 and in 1906. They were considered to have the best defence in the division.

Real Madrid.

Real Madrid was founded when football was introduced to the Institución Libre de Enseñanza, Madrid, which included several Oxbridge graduates. They opened Football Club Sky in 1897, playing on Sunday mornings at Moncloa. It split into two clubs in 1900: New Foot-Ball de Madrid and Club Español de Madrid. The latter club split again in 1902, resulting in the formation of Madrid Football Club  on 6 March 1902. In 1920, Real Madrid’s name was changed to Real Madrid after Alfonso XIII of Spain granted the title of Real Sports (Royal) to the club.

Barcelona.

Barcelona, also known as familiarly Barça, is a football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The team appeared in 1899 by a group of Swiss, English and Spanish players led by Joan Gamper. This club has become a Catalan institution, hence the device “Més que un club” (More than a club). The official Barça anthem is El Cant del Barça by Josep Maria Espinàs.

Manchester United was founded in 1878, and was originally called Newton Health LYR until the year 1880. In the year 1880, the club changed its name and became Newton Health until the year 1882. After which the club was officially named Manchester United. MU is quite popularly known by fans and others as The Red Devils. Manchester United’s Team currently takes part in the Old Trafford stadium in Manchester. However, they have changed a few grounds earlier like Monsall on North Road, Clayton on Bank Street.

Fenerbahçe S.K.

Fenerbahçe S.K. club appeared in 1907 in the province of Kadıköy in Istanbul. Its founders were Nurizade Ziya Bey (Ziya Songülen), Ayetullah Bey and Enver Necip Bey (Enver Necip Okaner). This group of persons founded the club secretly in order to keep a low profile and not get into any trouble with the strict Ottoman rule. So strict in fact that the Sultan, Abdul Hamid II, forbid that the Turkish youth may not set up a club nor engage in the game of football played by the English families that was watched in envy.

Galatasaray.

Galatasaray club’s birth is the mystical and old fascinating legend: During a hunting excursion, II. Bayezid, an Ottoman Sultan from the 15th Century, becomes a guest of an old wise man, Gül Baba, who gives him with two roses, one red and one yellow. The sultan, impressed by this gesture, offers the wise man whatever he wishes. Gül Baba shows him a piece of land overlooking the Bosphorus, and asks him to build a school there.
